Trashcan plasmoid
« on: August 31, 2010, 09:16:36 AM »
I run KDE 4.4.5 but have a few other DEs installed.  When I switched to use LXDE, I noticed the trashcan on the desktop. I clicked it and got an error.

I'm assuming this is because it's a plasmoid created in KDE.

Also, georgetoon, the trash function in LXDE's PCManFM is NOT working. It's a known bug.

When you install task-lxde the trash icon gets put on the desktop. It's completely useless. You can safely delete the lxde trash icon. But check to be sure it is the lxde trash icon - in pcmanfm > /home/<you>/Desktop > right click the icon > open with - and have a look at its .desktop file.

If you need a trash function in lxde, install xfe (x file explorer). It has a good trash function and is relatively small. I've been using it for a long time now - on those rare occasions when I need a trash function.

I don't mind the confusion with the trashcan in various DEs.:)  I'm in KDE 98% of the time.:)  Every once in a while, I jump into LXDE or XFCE, etc.  The trash can funtionality on the desktop in those DEs doesn't bother me.  I can ignore it.  I was just curious as to whether or not my hunch was correct.:)
