b43-fwcutter
bcm43xx-fwcutter
bluez-firmware
dkms-broadcom-wl
ndiswrapper-bcmwl5
ndiswrapper-bcmwl5a

Do you have all of the packages installed?
Perhaps updates removed something.

The first 4 files that you list are Linux modules, and the last two are Windows drivers to use with ndiswrapper.......... Why does one need to have Windows drivers when they have the native Linux modules?

After updating kernel, wireless no longer connects.
« Reply #17 on: September 07, 2010, 11:33:06 PM »
Installed the kernel-2.6.33-7-pclos3.a64  and the first boot into the new kernel it connected to my router and showed other access points in the area.  But tonight on the 2nd boot using the new kernel I am back to no connection and it is not showing any access points in the area.

Also one strange thing I noticed is that when I booted the laptop after installing the new kernel the wireless device was labeled "wlan2"  and it connected to my router.

But when I rebooted the laptop the wireless device is now labeled "wlan0" and will not connect.

That is good to know. I'd like to update to 2.6.34 or 2.6.35 kernels but both have some alsa sound issues with the snd_hda_intel sound driver with various motherboards so I will wait until they mature a bit more.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Confirmed this is working for the wired connection:

b44             : Broadcom Corporation|BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX [NETWORK_ETHERNET] (rev: 02)

Thank you!

I shall try to update again to the newest kernel ! I recently upgraded my PCLinuxOS Gnome installation and since then, I have lots of problems with my wireless connection, it keeps disconnecting and when I manually re-connect, I have no access anymore to Internet. This doesn't happen on my PCLinuxOS KDE4 installation where I did not update the kernel. Will reboot under the Gnome edition to check the kernel number, I think it is the kernel-2.6.33.7-pclos4.bfs but some here say that the problem is solved in this version !?

EDIT: in fact it must be some other update ! I updated my KDE installation, keeping the kernel to 2.6.35.1... and I had the same problem: it looks like a recent update makes my wifi go to sleep mode after some times and it won't wake up by itself. I have to manually reconnect :-\ Did not happen before with this hardware.
