[LXDE ] Fading slash screen
« on: August 27, 2010, 01:29:03 AM »
Hi there,

Can someone point me / give me some info about the splash boot where you see the LXDE icon appearing for fading (for logout).

In fact I didn't know a slash boot could be 'dynamic'.

So I wonder how it works and how you can change it

Thx for any info

Tereva

Do you mean the splash between login and desktop?
=> KDE Configuration Center: There, you'll find what you're searching for
In the past it was: System Settings >> Look and Feel >> Appearance >> Splash Screen; but it can be changed by now (don't know exactly where it's findable now - don't sit behind a Linux pc at the moment)

Or do you mean the splash on booting / shutting down
=> plymouth boot theme's
You can change them by searching in Synaptic for 'plymouth';
there are different theme's available there, if you install a new one, it's applied at once....
You can switch between them in the Konsole, or with the program 'ezswitch' (in Synaptic)

Examples of them here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,76205.0.html
(so you can chose one, and don't have to test them all  ::)

Hi there,

Thx Ruben for the clear information.

I was speaking about the booting / shutting down splash screen.
I had never heard about plymouth before, so now is the time for some googling to know more about.

Thx again for your answer

Then you can take a look at the link I gave you...
=> youtube video's with examples of that plymouth boot splashes....

Choose the one you want, or make on yourself (but that isn't easy, and you can better do that on a test system where the OS may break  ;) )

Yes uncle I used ezswitch

It works like a charm.

I'm using new sun as boot splash now.
It makes a impressive boot IMO :)

Thx again for all the support
