(SOLVED) File/folder doesn't exist
« on: August 24, 2010, 07:55:38 PM »
That's what it say if I try to copy, move, rename, delete or doing any other thing with some images that shows a strange character in the name, something like a question mark inside a rhombus.

I think is a no recognized character and I tried to set the correct locale in PCC and in the KDE4 Configure your system, I even set the codification (no UTF-8) and didn't work, on the contrary, gave some problems to my desktop.

I don't know what to do now, any ideas?  ???

EDIT:  To solve it just installed PCManfm and pcmanfm-¡10n (internationalization files), opened the folders/files and renamed them. I think is the easiest way.

Try reading this > http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/weirdchars.html

Maybe that will lead to some solution?

Did som testing with an Win Game DVD that created a map WoW DVD.
(Yest it's working in Linux, but needs unhiding the DVD files, ages to install and update, plus changing the config file)
I could onle remove it with:
rmdir "WoW DVD"
Maybe you can manipulate stuff on the command line with the (copy/paste) file/dir name between quotation marks.

The Search facility in this forum software is not very clever and one has to try different combinations ;)

That's why I frequently use Google to search for something in the PCLinuxOS forums....
(going to Google >> typing "pclinuxos <my problem in some words>" (I do it without quotes))

EDIT: sorry this post IS off-topic, but I hope it's worth your reading

That'll work, but it will also find anyone anywhere mentioning pclinuxos WRT to your problem (which may well be what you want ;D)  (incidentally, when I do that, I use "(PCLOS OR PCLinuxOS) <my problem>", without the quotes).
You can also use
Code: [Select]
site:pclinuxos.com <your problem>and that will limit the results to only hits located on pclinuxos.com!

If I search like how I typed, there's a list on top from pclinuxos.com....
=> then, I can click "more results from this site"

And that's indeed the same as "site:pclinuxos.com"
However, I can look at the same time at pclinuxos.nl via Google  :D
