[SOLVED]Desktop Effects Error- Too Slow?
« on: August 23, 2010, 03:59:00 PM »
My desktop effects keep getting "suspended". I get a popup message saying they're too slow, & my taskbar turns black(I can still see the icons). Why is this happening, & how can I fix it? HELP!!!

My video card is nvidia. I'm not sure if I use compiz. I have the latest kernel(per updates). I use the driver that was provided by default(via updates).

Video card? Compiz? Kwin? Kernel? Video driver?

nvidia has hundreds of video card, more specific information is required, you also need to mention the video driver you are using with that nvidia video card, if it is a older video card and you use a newer driver you can have problems

Still no info on your nVidia card, but try to switch off the Blur efect in desktop settings.

I don't know which driver, it's whatever is provided by default. I'm sorry I can't be more clear on that.

CheeseQueen452:

Open a terminal then enter;

lspci |grep -i vga                    <Enter>

This will at least tell us what graphics card you have.

Post your results.

My resolution is 1280x1024. I didn't see anything about my video driver when I entered "lspci -vv" in the konsole.

Code: [Select]
xdpyinfo  | grep 'dimensions:'
Code: [Select]
lspci -vv

As said before, NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We need a specific model to work with. If you can't provide the information asked for we can't help.
