[SOLVED]The effects don't work

Hi, I have a problem, if I try to activate the effects in Configure Your Desktop, doesn't work, and if I close the window of Configure Your Desktop, the effects automatically disable. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks, I have PCLinuxOS 2010 KDE, the video card is an Intel Mobile GME965/GLE960 Integrated Graphics Controller.

Intel cards have trouble with the new "blur" effect.  Try going to "Configure Your Desktop", set the Effects "on", then go to the advanced screen and *uncheck* the blur effect.  Then close out and see if it stays.

That fixed my system.

Disabling blur fixed my system with the intel gma 4500m chip but I'm now noticing another intel video card (gma 900) with effects problems. Only now I do not see anything listed under the "All Effects" tab so there is no blur to disable. Don't mean to hijack but it could be a related issue to the OP.

Some integrated Intel Graphics Cards have problems using the KDE4 Effects....

Else try to use Compiz effects, like coffeetime said:
go to PCLinuxOS Control Center => 3d effects in one of the tabs: set it to Compiz


Try it not together, because KWin effects don't work together with Compiz effects (KWin effects will be disabled when using Compiz)
