There's a blow-up windows (or explode or smth.) mentioned in KDE 3d-effects but I didn't try it.

If compiz isn't running, you can go to KDE's configuration window, and go to the effects setting: turning it on, change some effects (sometimes you have to turn off 'blur' first) => then press apply, and see what happens.......

You can simply see if compiz is running by looking at the windows: do they have KDE's look or compiz' look?

Staar,
I suppose you are aware that enabling both Compiz and KDE 3d-effects causes malfunction in one or both of them?

I think they can't even function together (Kwin <=> Compiz)
: Compiz takes over everything, even the windowmanagement (some of your kde-bindings won't work too anymore)

Yes, I got it now.  I just didn't understand what Compiz and KDE actually were in the beginning.  Once I started from scratch and reinstalled PClinux and the proper drivers right away the CompizConfig app worked and Fusion Icon actually opened.   Compiz effects work fine, but disabling Compiz and using KDE was still giving me problems.  This PC will be for someone else and I decided it would be best to not have windows explode or burst into flames when they close.  I've had people complain that their monitor was cracked because the background I used resembled broken glass in the corner!  Not to mention people that used the cd tray as a cup holder.  I even heard of a guy who put his mouse on the floor and attempted to use it with his foot!  All i need is someone freaking out thinking their pc is on fire or trying to light their cigarette off of their monitor!  Thanks for all your suggestions.  I learned a lot just from everyone as far as installing the proper drivers and configuring effects.  Would have taken forever to get it right by trial and error.  Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor to a newcomer down the road...  Thanks again guys for all your time and effort with a newb...

I hope there's some 'overlay' picture available somewhere: using the native wallpaper, edit it with GIMP to add that layer and put it back on the Desktop  ;D

About that CD-tray::: maybe there'll be a use for my CD trays from now ;;;  (haven't used them for a long time)
=> cool hot idea!  :P

Me: OMG! Let's see... M-m-m... really :( Well just do your job for now; I'll see what I can do later.
(Later)
Me (in my account): Mom! I've got some software and it fixed it( :o) ;D
Mom:  :-\ ???
(Later)
Mom:The screen is broken again!!

I'll try this trick oh my daughter's account too (she is geeky though) but have to leave my wallpaper "uncracked" in order the joke to work.

The joke will be a short and light one ;)

I imagine it with my daughter:
She (scribing): Dad, the glass of the monitor is cracked ???
Me: What what?! Where?... ...Yes it is!
She: But I don't feel it under my nail...
Me (scribing too): Hmm... Evidently it's on the inner side of the glass.
She: What we do now?
Me: Well... thinking on buying a new one? :( (Thinking) Well it's some dangerous, it could explode (it's 21 inches CRT). Sigh... I'll take the risk and work with it till we buy a new one... But what about you?
(Later...)
(she is often working in my account, so...)
She: Dad!! ???  The scratches disappeared ???
Me: Hmm... They certainly did it with a self-healing glass...
She: ??? ???
Me: Laughing ;D ;D
