Trying to create my first remaster / live CD but can't understand how to proceed.
Below is a transcript of everything that I see on my system, but I can't find any explanations of what most of this means. Is there a step by step that explains it all somewhere? I've inserted some of my questions tagged with "J:" into the transcripts below:
PC > System > Make LiveCD
>> You're about to create a remaster livecd/harddrive.
* A compressed image of the running system will be created on a chosen partition.
* Requirements: min.2 GB free space on the chosen partition
* A Windows FAT filesystem can't be used.
J: I don't know if I have a "FAT" filesystem or not. How can I determine that?
I installed PCLinux in a dual boot on a Windows XP Thinkpad.
>> Would you like to provide some advanced options? [Yes] [No]
- fstab=rw,noauto Without auto mounting of drives
[_] bootopt=nofinishinstall Livecd without finish install
[_] ufs=unionfs Livecd with union file system
[_] md5sum embed the md5sum in the iso
[_] resolution=1024x768 bootup resolution of 1024x768
J: How can I determine which of the four open boxes to check? I'm guessing
the resolution would be okay to check, but don't understand what theothers mean.
>> Note: any wrong option will break the command.
for Example:
--nodir=^/home/guest
--nofile=^/var/state/apt/lists/*.*
The '--' is required and separate multiple options with a blank space.
Insert your mklivecd options here:[_____________]
[cancel] [ok]
J: This (above) is also "Greek" to me. I have no idea what to do here.
Should I just copy the two example to put in the "insert here" space, or what?
>> Name: [remaster.iso ]
Save in folder: [File System ]
> browse for other folders
[cancel] [ok]
J: How can I determine what name to use and what folder to use?
I thought I would be burning this to a CD or does it have to go into a hard disk folder
first and then get burned to the CD?
My objective is to make the Live CD like the system that I have currently customized with the panel icon setup and four desktops, each with different wallpaper, etc. and make it so the exact same setup could be installed on other computers to look and work the same way as shown in this screen shot:
