(Solved ???) In which folder the wallpapers are store
« on: August 19, 2010, 02:46:31 PM »
I'm wondering if there is a specific folder that is use to store the wallpapers included with the KDE installation of PClinux, if i open the Folder View Settings i can see some pictures there so i would like to know what is the name of that folder and where he is exactly.

OrdiDoc,

the standard folder is /usr/share/wallpapers.

An additional note: when you download wallpapers using "Get new wallpapers", they're stored in .kde4/share/wallpapers in your home directory.

Thank you :)

Another question, is there a way that i can put all my wallpapers in that folder to have them ready in Folder View Settings without having to add them one by one?

OrdiDoc, I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier. I just welcomed a few newbies while at work, but overlooked your repeated questions.

The files you see on your desktop are actually stored in your desktop folder, i.e. /home/<your account>/Desktop

So when you backup your home folder you also backup everything you see that's on your desktop when you have Folder View set.

I hope this answers you question, otherwise don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your answer tschommer, the wallpapers are probably not stored in any of the /home folder, i did a search and didn't find anything.

While i was searching for the folder containing all the wallpapers that i add in Folder View Settings i went to /root/temp/kdecache-bluesman/plasma-wallpapers/home/bluesman/wallpapers/My wallpapers and there they are, all of them in 2 different sizes the first being 164 x 102 and the second size is 1280 x 800 so i believe that i find what i was looking for.

I wanted to backup this particular folder, hoping this is the one use for Folder View Settings to put the wallpapers on the desktop so that i don't have to do it again because i actually have more than 160 wallpapers that i want to save and there is going to be more later on.... :D

I hope this is the right folder to save but if it's not please don't hesitate to let me know  ;D and thanks again for your time.
