NTP delaying and failing on boot
« on: August 17, 2010, 11:47:56 AM »
During bootup NTP will fail after delaying for about 30 seconds. I think it later begins to work, but it slows down boot horribly. It's configured correctly. The network is up and running before ntp is initiated. If I ping us.pool.ntp.org (the ntp server) there's a prompt reply. However, when I attempt configuration of date and time in Configure Your Computer and do the test it will fail every time. This problem started right after the last big update before KDE 4.5 was released, so something other than the KDE update that hasn't changed since the KDE 4.5 update is responsible. My system is fully upgraded from PASS as of an hour ago.
Using Linux for over 18 years and still counting.
