Help with missing panel in LXDE (Solved)
« on: August 16, 2010, 07:44:38 PM »
I'm trying to help my MIL that lives in the next state over with her LXDE panel. I set up her machine with PCLOS 2010 LXDE because it looked like it would be easier than KDE4 for her. (she's in her 70's). she ran 2007 kde for a couple years. anyway, She calls to tell me that her sound icon on the panel stopped working so she decided to "download" a new one. in the process of deleting the old one she somehow managed to delete her whole panel. Now she says she has nothing but a couple desktop icons left. So I was wondering if there was an easy way to get her panel back for her without driving over there. I have next to zero experience with LXDE so any help is much appreciated.

sled75:

I added "in LXDE" to your subject line. Hopefully that will help get the right people looking at your thread to get a swift and accurate solution for your problem.  ;)

Thank you Mr OP. And Thank You for all you do for everyone.
I booted up LXDE livecd and figured out how to add the panel back and manipulate the icons and got her fixed up over the phone.

Good work sled75. Perhaps someone else will ask the same question one day and you can help them out.  ;)

All the original config files stay in /etc/skel, so if you damage any of the config files you can always restore as it was at the origin, by copying the .config/* files you need to your home user directory. :D
