« on: August 13, 2010, 03:31:58 PM »
My HP lappie has a detachable remote control for controlling DVD movie or CD music playing.  What program or driver do I need to get it working under linux?

hello and welcome to the forum warlag!

inside configure your desktop(kde control center)/hardware/input devices(my desktop is in spanish)/remote devices(or controllers) you can handle lirc options, the module that loads the receivers for many devices

this remote devices, when working on infrared probably will work but if work on bluethoot or any other technology, linux doesn't have support for it yet

remember that this technologies are designed and supported to work in windows so linux has to work from zero to make them work, sometimes a wireless mouse is a better solution, this is what i use since 2007/8(can't remember)
