« on: August 13, 2010, 01:24:19 AM »
I have downloaded the drivers for my canon mp270 and want to install them but my problem is that when i got to open them in Dolphin it say that it cant preview the file .    The same site also has driver for .deb and . tar Both work in there systems from the file managers and the rpm will ever work in Mandriva one.   So what am i doing wrong ?   My use of the comand line is very to none . Thank Much ....

First, installing from outside sources (getting it from some website) is not recommended. Such installs can break your system and render it unsupported.
There is a printing package for canon available in the repos.
Start Synaptic package manager > click Reload > after that has completed, click Mark all upgrades > click to agree to mark them > click Apply > and again click Apply. After the update has completed, click the Custom button on the lower left > click Tasks on the left menu > task-printing-canon is the package you want. Mark it for installation > Apply > Apply.

You can search the Forum by "install rpm".
