VB and USB
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:47:11 PM »
I installed GetViritualBox. It installed without a hitch.i moved my VDI file over and opened.  Runs great!:)  It detected all my USB devices! Great!

But all my USB devices are grayed out in the devices menu.  I updated my guest addons and even shut down and rebooted. til grayed out USB edvices.

Toonfully,

Mark

Have you created or imported a VM yet? After selecting one, clicking on Settings, then on USB, you should see something like this:

Bare metal                           VBox
AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core    Single core
4GiB RAM                              1GiB RAM
nVidia GeForce FX 5200          64MB video
LXDE 32bit                            KDE 64bit

Yes. I'm running WinXP. Moved it over and it booted right up.  But, I did not check the settings in the area you posted.:)  Will do so tonight.:)  Thanks for pointing this out.:)

Appears to have worked!:)  I now have USB!:)  really nice being able to plug in my mobile Passport HD and drag and drop files inside Virtual Windows.:) it also fond my printer and scanner. I didn't look for either software disks, though. i should get the printer properly installed. I may be needing it.but,it's such a pain looking for a disk!  When needing a windows driver, I forget how wonderful having synaptic is!
