I gave pclinuxos another go
« on: August 12, 2010, 04:57:59 PM »
I decided to give pclos another go and got smb4k to see my windows xp machine so I could transfer files. Will keep trying to get it to work the other way around,  as in getting windows to be able to access the pclos shares instead of just seeing them and throwing a error.

Well, you really didn't state a problem or a question, except for mentioning an error message.  What did the error message say?

Did you...
- install samba-server from synaptic (and make sure that it is running)?
- configure your shared folder(s) in the KDE Settings (Configure Your Desktop > System > Samba)?

Or did you try another method?
Desktop:  AMD 3.6ghz X4, Gigabyte MB, 8GB ram, Multiple PCLOS's, 2.6.38.8-pclos3.pae.bfs
Server: Intel 3.4ghz X2, 4GB RAM, SATA, gnome2, *.pae.bfs, Headless, Servers: LAMP, FTP, Samba, Print, PXE, BT
HTPC: Phenom II X4 2.8ghz, 4GB Ram, 1TB SATA, PCLinuxOS-KDE, NVIDIA N220GT HDMI, *.pae.bfs
