unetbootin does not see my usb flash drive (Solved)
« on: August 10, 2010, 01:36:42 PM »
Hi all,

I am new to Linux and recently installed PCLinuxOS.  Everything is working fine.  I used unetbootin in windows to make a bootable LiveCD all worked well.  I installed unetbootin in PCLOS and all looked good however, it does not see my usb flash drive.  Yes I am using the same flash drive.

My compter is an Acer  Aspire one with 2gigs of memory.

I did a search in the forum and could not find a similar problem.  I did  find the answer to most of my other questions.

For a point of interest, when I install PCLOS on the Acer Aspire One I did not have sound, I happen to check the sound mixer, set the master channel to speaker, added the speaker to the configured channels and that solved the problem.

Thanks for any help you can offer regarding unetbootin and the usb flash drive recognition.

Cliff

Make sure you mount the flash drive first ... open it with your file manager - dolphin if you use KDE ...I'm not sure about the other desktops ... then unetbootin should see it

That was it.  When I plugged in the usb flash drive I used the opened with file with Dolphin.  All work as expected from that point on.

Thank you for your help
