Which kernel were you using before you installed 2.6.33.7 bfs? If you are sure it's the kernel, why not go back to using the previous one?
Tex does not use generic kernels. He looks for patches for known problems to try to avoid these types of regressions. Just because others are having problems with a specific kernel, doesn't automatically prove that this is the source of your problem. If you make a conclusions too quickly, you may prevent someone from collecting the evidence necessary to help you. If this is a kernel problem, we would all like to see it confirmed so we can get it patched.
