I've tried most of the suggestions in the forum to get microphone support working and it still is not functioning. When I built my new machine I opted to use the on board sound instead of an older SBLive Value card that I also have. But recently have noticed that the microphone support is not working.
I searched the forum and found that some got it working by loading and using pulseaudio. I've tried but that doesn't work as well. I don't care what I use whether it's puleaudio or alsa I just needed it to work. Can I change any alsa settings to enable it? I also tried a post in the tips section which outlined a way to select a different driver, but that was for laptops and didn't have any settings for my Gigabyte motherboard.
I did find a work around. I also recently got a usb webcam with mic, which works for skype if I select it in skype's properties. But since I use VBox to run windows I need support for the mic there also and the usb webcam doesn't work with Vbox. I need the microphone to work in VBox because some of my clients use "Let's go to meeting" for conferencing and it only works in windows.
So anyone have any insights? Would it be an easier fix to just disable the on board audio and just install the SBLive value card?
