Since all of them can access other sites, I guess other sites can access me

It caused me to recall having read about some mobile broadband providers issuing IP addresses in the private range to customers .....  essentially it seemed they had a private network which the customer joined using their dongle.
In that case no doubt the provider would have a firewall in place which the customer would have no knowledge of.

I have never used such providers so am basing that on what I have read .....

Normally I boot only once a day, that's 6.00 in the morning.
But when we have the rainy/stormy season I have no choice as my UPS only holds for about 10 to 15 minutes ( without monitor )

And furthermore, someone else had asked me 'same' , so to answer his particular question, I rebooted 20 times in one day............................never again

Wow, I can't even imagine booting once a day.  Most of my machine goes for months on end without a reboot. I have a custom built UPS that will run all 8 machine for 12 hours. If that is long enough I have a generator to handle it. The longest running server I have right now is 212 days. My longest running desktop is just at 60 days. I did reboot one machine last night after doing an update, than had graphic issues with the VIA chrome drivers.

I just read something about that today.  ISP's issuing a private IP number to their customers. The article did not go into any details about how it was done though.

My internet connection is complicated:

A) I use http://three.ie
B) I have 3G modem connected to my server via USB extension cable
C) 3G Huawei E160G modem is being dialed to the internet thanks to PCC
D) My server stands on the wardrobe and it provides:

   a) First and main firewall for my network (passed http://grc.com stealth shields up test)
   b) Internet Connection Sharing server
   c) DNS server for my LAN computers
   d) Printer / scanner server for my LAN computers
   e) Apache HTTP server with WordPress blog on it
   f) Remotely controlled SSH server from WAN and LAN side
   g) LAN IRC server
   h) LAN IRC Services
   i) Pop3s and smtps e-mail server for LAN computers
   j) Fail2ban brute-force preventing barrier
   k) No-ip client for the http://no-ip.com - provides me with no-ip domain for my site.
   l) Connection keep alive script
   m) IRC bot for my #pclinuxos-pl irc channel

E) My server has 2 LAN cards. One of them is used to share the 3G internet from my server to my Linksys router.
F) Router spreads the internet via wireless link to my 4 laptops and other devices.

Server is running PCLinuxOS 2010.6 Minime but I have removed KDE4 and installed LXDE on top of it.

I had it built by a friend of mine. To keep the size of the unit as small as possible all the batteries are external to the actual inverter.

Have you considered using a router with USB socket, which can use the dongle as its WAN side connection?

Might simplify things ......  but of course you may not want to simplify things

I have a router with USB ports. It's not being used. I like my own configuration to much to change it . Gives me exactly what I need and how I need it. PCLinuxOS is being upgraded "daily" router software is not... All security patches can be applied by a simple upgrade. Plus I have few security tricks that I use on my server which would be unavailable for a router. Same goes with services and apps. I would have to redirect ports from router to the server anyway to keep my services running so I would have to have a dedicated server machine anyway...
