ports open
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:43:09 PM »
Hi,

Whenever I go into setup personal firewall and uncheck all the boxes, it doesn't seem to save my changes. It just rechecks all the default ones again.
Further, when I go to manage system services and try to start shorewall it says "Error: No firewall zone defined".

It's a little disconcerting because my printer port is open to the world and a whole bunch of other ports are closed rather than stealth (according to GRC). Short of sticking it behind a router, anyone have any suggestions?

Edot: I was able to get the printer port closed by editing /etc/cups/cuspd.conf by allowing only 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 and listening to connections from the local machine eg:  127.0.0.1:631. Shouldn't at least listening to connections from the local machine be set to default?
