[SOLVED] Epson NX125 Printer Driver?
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:52:53 AM »
Hello,

My first help topic! Woot! I bought an Epson Stylus NX125 All-IN-One printer from Target yesterday and i plugged it up and printer drake started setting up. The bad thing is it isnt in the list of drivers for an Epson brand.  NX215 and 300 are the only close options. I was wondering if i need to just choose one of those. Hope to get it working i couldn't believe the deal for 30 USD for an All-IN-One!!!

Thanks,

FoWL

Welcome to Forum, if you have looked around you will see there is a lot of activity plenty of willing helpers especially if the problem seems clearly defined. Soon you will be one of the helpers  :)

You can also do a SEARCH on forum, 3rd TAB from left at the top line, you may even find you printer mentioned.

In your case printers have a lot of common factors and from similar series you can often substitute and at least get going.  In your case I would just try what you have got so far. If that fails grand style we can look in details.   ;D

Ok i will detail out how i got the printer to work as best i can to help anyone else out with it.

1: I searched around for the driver and found it here: http://linux.avasys.jp/drivers/lsb/epson-inkjet/stable/RPMS/i486/epson-inkjet-printer-n10-nx127-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm

Code: [Select]
[thatguy@localhost Downloads]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost Downloads]# rpm -i epson-inkjet-printer-n10-nx127-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm
warning: epson-inkjet-printer-n10-nx127-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 8aa65d56
Stopping CUPS printing system: [  OK  ]
Starting CUPS printing system: [  OK  ]
Re-enabling disabled print queues:
[root@localhost Downloads]#

I then logged into CUPS at: http://localhost:631

I logged in as root

Added the printer and then test paged it on under the maintenance dropdown.

I then printed out some random pages to test the setup and it seems to be working. If you need more detailed answers let me know and i will try to make them easier to understand.

Congratulations
If you have got it running that is what counts, if you are happy with the test print, well done.  Enjoy your purchase.  :)

Welcome to the PCLinuxOS forum, c27617.  We are exclusively dealing with PCLinuxOS which is a Linux Distribution.  Linux is an operating system as much as Windows is another operating system.  The 2 work and function differently and you will not find a solution for Linux working for Windows.

You will have to find support for your problem in a Windows forum, I am afraid.

But if you rather would like to work an a safe and comfortable and free (as in speech) operating system with real time support and a great community do not hesitate to join us.  You could install PCLinuxOS as a second operating system just to get used to it or just run it from a live cd to check it out.

Live cd are all available for download at www.pclinuxos.com.

And no - no catch, no trialware, no demo, no trojans, no viruses - just good value.

Any more questions - open a new thread and ask.

Whatever you do - Good Luck!
