[SOLVED] Thunderbird install problem
« on: August 02, 2010, 09:22:26 AM »
HowTO- setup Thunderbird mail in PclinuxOS2010

08/02/10

Problem – Thunderbird 3.0.5 installs with auto setup as IMAP mail protocol but my ISP (charter.net) requires POP protocol.

Solution – use “manual account” setup.
Start Thunderbird > setup new mail account > name > email address > password >  continue > “mail account setup” - HIT THE STOP button (to STOP AUTO SETUP ) > change drop down protocol from IMAP to POP  > Manual Setup  button > Server Settings >  Server Name:  mail.charter.net > Port: change to 110 > Connection security: set to – none  > Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings > Edit > enter a descriptive name like CHARTER > Server Name:  mail.charter.net > Port:  25 > Connection security:  none > User Name: vlaporte > finally click OK

Luck,
Vince
