I have a Toshiba L555D-7930 laptop with AMD dual core 64 bit processor. Running latest KDE 4.5, fully upgraded. At first, I couldn't get frequency scaling to work. Cpufreq is installed. I tried installing powersave, but that disabled Power Devil and nothing would show up in Configure Your Desktop app > Advanced user Settings > Power Management except a warning that Power Devil had been disabled by powersave. I uninstalled powersave and that brought back Power Devil, but the configuration shows that there is no frequency scaling policy. Then, I tried installing powernow, loading the powernow-k8 module and starting powernowd. The processor now does frequency scaling, but still the configuration does not show frequency scaling enabled and can't be configured. Is this a known problem? Is Power Devil not capable of handling frequency scaling?

After a reboot, now frequency scaling displays and can be configured.
