« on: August 01, 2010, 03:40:39 PM »
I talked my friend into switching to Linux from windows.
We've been trying to setup his connection all day with no joy in site.
I did an extensive search on the forum but none of the advice worked so far...please help!!

He has a Dell insparon laptop.
PCLinuxOS 2010 downloaded yesterday fully updated.

His internal wireless works in his house, however when we try to set up his Verizon card it fails.
It is recognized but wont connect.
here is the terminal output for his card.

sixthwheel,

See if this helps ... http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,63325.msg512364.html#msg512364

It's a different wireless provider, same modem manufacturer, different model ... but there may be enough there to help you get the 3G card going.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Parnote. My friend registered to the forum yesterday, and is waiting on his authentication so he could post.
One thing that stumped us last night was this.
Quote
Phone number #777

Does he have to include the # sign?

Also
Quote
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
His card is not USB, (it looks like a credit card) however PCLOS is detecting it as USB.

I'll talk to him tonight and hope to get this straightened out.
He really likes PCLOS so far, and it would be great if he could get this final piece working.

YIPIEEEEEE!!!!!! We got it working.

We had 1 setting wrong. in the modem tab we tried dev/tyy/usb1 and that did the trick.
Looks like my friend is Windows free! Oh the joy!! ;D
