I think reply #241 is gone now, but you can try these steps. Reply #11 in the thread.

don't know why it works for some but not for others, if you updated sources.list by hand the option i mentioned is not necesary

Hope you don't mind me joining the debate but I am also trying to install Open Office and am running into problems. I'm sure my problem is solved somewhere in this post but am having "newbie nerves" about what to do about solving it.

So when I try to install I get this message:-
Temporary failure to access the OpenOffice repository.
Please try running GetOpenOffice again a little later.

.............well many times later it still says the same.

Having read through some of the replies I "think" my problem might lie with the sources.list file so I have downloaded another copy as instructed but find that this version is smaller in size than the one already installed at /etc/apt so am reluctant to overwrite it.

I too, as has been commented, have never had any updates.

Debate? Sorry but this isn't a debate. It is a help thread. If you read it through, you will find the answers you seek.

OpenOffice is no longer available. Libre Office is used instead.

You need to update your sources list. There is a link at the top of each page for the post about it. The old sources list is no longer applicable here.

You can not get updates until you have the current sources list.

Once you are fully updated, you can use LOManager to install Libre Office.
