I tried all that you said and still a no go-- so I did it through synaptic. Thank You for all your help, I now have my office software back.
We will see what happens the next upgrade, still don't know why it failed though. Thank You Pinoc, craesz  and Neal.

You're welcome.

Guess we'll have to see if the script works in the future  :)

I think I'll change it to something other than 'solved' just so a search will let them know we worked around the issue.....

Hi,

PCLOS2010 kde, system fully updated as of 07-29-2010.

I have this problem as well.
This is obviously not an isolated incident.
I can and probably will work around this problem as mentioned above.
This problem has been reported, by more then one person, the problem has not been corrected, nor the workaround simple enough for the non-advanced users; This, probably, shouldn't be flagged as solved.

Regards,
ljjr.

I'm sorry, but one of the real benefits to this forum is the ability to see what issues others have had. As you know, the search brings up the thread title. I don't necessarily like having to dig through each one when the title is not correct only to find out that is not the case.

Solved to me indicates that the issue was resolved by dealing with a known issue.

Workaround to me indicates that the issue was resolved and the issue remains unknown.

The number of individuals with the issue (known or unknown) seems irrelevant to me. Also, I think that using the correct title helps the entire community. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly change it.

That isn't what I meant, craesz. I meant that there have been only 3 failures of the script reported out of the *exact number unknown* (based on forum membership, probably in the thousands) who have used it.

That is excellent for any software application.

It is sad that we haven't figured out why it didn't work for you three, though. :(

Sorry.... guess I misinterpreted. You are absolutely correct that those numbers are minimal at best compared to M$ pieces of crap.

It's definitely a script, scripts are executables. If you add it to a PATH location (e.g. /usr/bin) then i appears to be just like binary executables.
I'm also having problems with GOO. I managed successfully a while ago, when I last tried out PCLinuxOS, but now I have some strange networking issue. I wonder if the latest script uses a different download command. Or maybe ftp.nl.freebsd.org has some networking issues.

I'm finding that I can download them using wget:

wget -r -l1 --no-parent -A.rpm http://ftp.nl.freebsd.org/pub/os/Linux/distr/texstar/openoffice/apt/pclinuxos/2009/RPMS.openoffice/

lomanager is in synaptic, if you updated sources.list file and updated completelly you sould have lobreoffice manager under the office menu in the kmenu
