Laptop help

am at my friends house checking his acer aspire 7720-6569 and it not coming on when the power button it press. The processor has been change but the problem continues, ram is check and working, fan is check and working. Hard drive is working. so am thinking its  the motherboard.  what do you guys think is the problem?

If the processor has been changed.  I would make sure that the processor 1. is correct for that main board and 2. properly seated in the socket.

Do not try to interchange between AMD and Intel because they have different pinouts and require different sockets.

The replacement processor is an exact copy of the original one......

I had an acer aspire 5735z with the same problem. It was the motherboard. I will never buy another acer again.

It can be as simple as a failing power switch .... some connection between powersource and switch? After all the thing was opened up and closed again. A "human error" seems not out of the question here. A grand inspection of one and other would be a good start I think. Not like bones113 I think overall Acer makes decent stuff (and Linux friendly as well!) for the money.
In case of a defect motherboard; Is the unit still in warranty period?
Last: What strikes me is that the processor has been changed (???) . Was that thing busted or ... ?

Yes power supply working and tested. everything tested ok. Only the motherboard that's not tested

One more guess (not that easy to believe it is per definition the motherboard) can it be a BIOS problem?   (Bios chip/battery).
As I said, guessing from here but a failing BIOS stops all the fun you see.
