Get OpenOffice doesn't work [solved]
« on: July 26, 2010, 12:40:30 AM »
I have now tried 4 times to use Get OpenOffice.

Each time it connects to my selected mirror (I have tried 2 different ones) and also to ftp.nl.freebsd.org. It seems to alternate between the 2 connections.
During the download it gets to "waiting for headers" when connected to the freebsd address, then it gives a whole string of "error 404 not found", then gives a synaptic message about unable to complete Get Openoffice and to try again later.

One thing I noticed, not sure if it's relevant, is that when connecting to my nearest mirror (aarnet) it is showing pclinuxos/2010/openoffice but when connected to ftp.nl,freebsd.org it shows pclinuxos/2009/openoffice.

Wouldn't it be easier and more reliable to just have OpenOffice in the repositories like any other piece of software? (instead of having the Get OpenOffice application)

thanks

Also I am not doing it myself all the time it does pay to read the announcements thread every now and again.

Your problem might be related to this:  http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,76711.0.html

I'd suggest to wait a bit - until tomorrow if possible.

yes, it is that easy. An updated Getopenoffice has just been shipped to Tex and will be available shortly.  ;)

sorry mellon, took my mouth too full  ::)
in fact, and as I just found out, it is possible to use version 1.7 to install the new OO3.2.1 but only if no OO was installed initially. Anyway, please wait for GOO 1.8
