[SOLVED] No video in VLC

I can hear the sound, but no video is displayed.
I reinstalled it and still no luck.
Here is the output when I run it on the CLI

Oh yea, this happened since last update, and also there is now a Dragon Player thingie in my menu.
Dragon player works fine, but I don't want it. I want VLC. >:(

it just happened to me, i think it was smplayer that i opened first and created this situation where video ports are not released

i tried in vlc to change the video output plugin and it worked but in my machine x11 is slow when using compiz fusion and specially if the file is hd

all i did was log out(or restart?) and vlc responded as always when i set it to default video output plugin

it looks to me as a regression of kde or maybe a driver thing, what i find is that sound output from vlc seems to be lower than before but could be that i'm sort of deaf  :-\

I just fixed it.
In Desktop settings/advanced user setting/file associatons, I clicked on video, and added an .avi extention.
Logged out and back, and now it's working.
