[SOLVED] Loss of wifi
« on: July 24, 2010, 08:41:50 AM »
Latest distro on a Samsung P28 working flawlessly on inbuilt wifi card with Atheros chipset, I used it once on a cable connection and it now refuses to connect wirelessly. I have been through the control centre, removed both cable and wireless setups and tried to set up new wireless connection but it isn't interested. Which config files need to be looked at please.

cjs1949,
This may sound like an obvious question but>
The wifi isn't switched off is it? (check both ends?)

can you be a bit more specific on what happens or what error message you get when it refuses to connect?
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..

Yes.

I have my second laptop, and PCLOS saw it right-a-way both times.  I did have to input my 10-digit code both times, but that was it.

Don't know about your laptop, but mine has an option to turn off wireless... hmmmm.
One of the few things I've learnt as growing older.  Is to choose your battles.. but never loose sight of the war..!

Thanks for your replies, wireless was not switched off etc., however after two long days at work, switched on to try to get to the bottom of it and bizarrely it was working again. I have no logical explanation why, it had been rebooted before, other PCLOS machines were working on the router so nothing appeared different.

Anyway many thanks for the help and replies.

No, much simpler - you urgently needed it, so Sod's Law stepped in.  When you found alternative means to sort your problem, Sod just went back to sleep.... till next time!
