ZEnMini startup/shutdown text
« on: July 23, 2010, 06:55:23 AM »
I'm sure this is simple, but how do I make sure I don't see any text upon startup and shutdown?

You can't do anything to get no text at all at boot and shutdown. The eldest method I had read about is about compiling a splashboot in kernel : which needed to be done for each new kernel. This method might have not been used very often.

Are you only getting Verbose text all the way through your boot and shutdown stages? or are you also getting the Plymouth graphics as well?

I usually see the ZenMini black screen with the swirl for a while, then text (up to "Welcome to PCLinux 2010" then sometimes (not always) I get a progress bar just before my desktop appears.  It's not a big deal, really, but when I want to show off my machine to Windows users, it kinda freaks 'em out.  I figure there seem to be workarounds for everything, so I thought I'd ask.

Hi,

Try to reinstall the Zen gfxboot, and the kernel (rename temporarily the initrd first, to force it to make a new one, as it's there the gfxboot will be living).
