Sound Issue Pclos 2010.07
« on: July 17, 2010, 04:07:40 AM »
I installed 2010.07 and have encountered issues with the sound. When i try to play a film with SMplayer, the sound is like when someone puts their finger on a record and slows it right down, the video plays at normal speed but the sound is waayyyyy slower. Many films i have are dual audio - English 5.1 and Japanese stereo. If i select Japanese stereo the sound is great, but English 5.1 sound is really slow and drawn out.

I didn't have this issue with 2010, but do with 2010.07. My settings are the same as with 2010 which is pretty much default. Dragon Player outputs no sound at all  ???

I don't mind going back to 2010, but thought i'd ask here first  8)

Did you try to run as root the following command?:
Code: [Select]
alsaconf     [ENTER]
=> I don't think it will solve your problem, but trying it is not wrong...  :)
(you have to select your sound-card)

Nope, no good i'm afraid  ??? The system is already using the correct driver - Intel HDA driver (snd_hda_intel [ALSA] and plays Amarok ok. I installed XBMC which worked in 2010 but doesn't work with 2010.07, the icon bounces on the taskbar then dissapears without the app starting, whether this is all tied together with perhaps a rogue lib file(s), i don't know  ???

Thanks for the reply  :)
