I have two ethernet adaptors on my machine one is the default from the motherboard the other is an add in card.  the adaptor on the motherboard does not work.  anyways it says that it is using a tulip driver and is unable to configure when after i install. it will not work but it works perfectly fine on the livecd.  i checked the forum for other help but i could not find anything that works.   i am using pclinuxos 2010.7 gnome if it makes any difference.  something about not being able to find the network interface b/c of tulip driver is what it says when i try to configure using the network center.  anyways it would be deeply appreciated if someone could help assist me with this issue.  i am working a reinstall to see if it somehow fixes anything but ill let you know if there are any updates.

The computer was working with the new install of pclinuxos but then the system crashed i suppose cause i could not do anything and then when i went to restart my network was down but i know it works because i am currently on that router with this laptop.  im going to check the cable with the laptop but if anyone has any suggestions or needs more info to help me just let me know any  help would be greatly appreciated.

for some purposes, the "Wicd Network Manager" does manage the job better than the standard Network Manager.... (and sometimes it gives more details about what is going wrong...)

you can always try it (install through Synaptic), if it doesn't make any difference, simply remove it again  8)
