Minime 2010.07 desktop theme details not working?
« on: July 11, 2010, 02:40:35 PM »
I'm trying to change from whatever the default theme on the minime 2010.07 ISO is to the oxygen them but all buttons at the bottom of "desktop theme details" (default, reset and apply) are greyed out.  Is this a known issue or did I change something else that disabled desktop theme details? I briefly searched the forums but didn't see anything about themes being broken so I started wondering if I may have somehow disabled it.
Thanks for any info...

I was running minime but you may be right , I did not see a section for total theme changes , but rather the ability to modify individual aspects -

I am testing the full version soon and will let you know if i find something

It looks like the ability to install new color control themes has been removed in both minime and kde 4 full.  Pitty that was a nice feature.  Maybe it can be added at a later date?  Thanks for the replies.

OK, an update.  One can add color control themes so that they show up at> advanced users>Desktop theme details by doing the following:

 1. Create a folder called desktoptheme in ~/.kde4/share/apps/, if it does not already exist. (it does in our kde4)
 2.  Open the folder "desktop themes"
 3.  Copy and paste the tar file of the theme you want and then select "extract here and detect folder"
 4.  Log out and back in and the theme will show up in the Desktop theme folder of "Desktop Settings"

I followed the above steps with the following results:
1. Create a folder called desktoptheme in ~/.kde4/share/apps/, if it does not already exist. (it does in our kde4)
it already exists...good...but it only had one folder for glassified theme which was empty.
2.  Open the folder "desktop themes"
done
3.  Copy and paste the tar file of the theme you want and then select "extract here and detect folder"
done. Oxygen is there with lots of files.
4.  Log out and back in and the theme will show up in the Desktop theme folder of "Desktop Settings"
no luck. "Desktop Theme Settings" still has the "default, reset and apply" buttons greyed out.
