Was I in a parallel universe? What was the kde-2010.2 I downloaded.

I downloaded burned to many cd-roms with a Lightscribe label and promoted it at a gathering the other night.

Now searching, I don't find it, there is some 2010.07 thing, and how to I explain to MacDows lovers that Linux is no longer confusing.

Is there anything wrong with the 2010.2 mystery release? I suspect video drivers for nvidea?

How do I nonchalantly get them to trade for what seems like a regression in a release?

there was a problem with some video drivers ..and since there will be quarterly updated versions .. it will be set to said month like .07 for July ..

There was an issue with some nvidia drivers with 2010.2. The issue is not in 2010.07. The fix was applied quickly. Why complain about that? ???
The .2 or .07 bit is about versioning. The first is the old way of year plus which release number of that year and means it was the 3rd release of the year - 2010 (1st), 2010.1 (2nd) and 2010.2 (3rd). The second method is the year plus the month of the release. In this case, year= 2010 and month= 07. This should make keeping track of versions easier.

Plus you can tell your gathering that they're actually very special as they got a "collectors special edition numbered disks"  ;D  Advise them to use them "gently" as they'll be worth a bundle in the future  ;D

As far as I can see the difference is in version numbering (.2 to .07) + vmalloc=256M (for nVidia) added to grub menu.lst..........

It will be using that scheme of versioning, yes; i.e. if it is released in October, it will be 2010.10.

Thanks to this thread I downloaded the last quarterly release of PCLOS, burned to disk and tried to install it on my kids desktop ...  only to find the downloaded .iso was corrupted  :-\  with my download speed  :(
 
Then remembered that I have the Sefi's remaster (which I've been giving to friends), my 13 year old kid installed it, updated and I put it in Spanish.

My 8 year old kid is really happy it has what he wants, even the looks  ;D
