Solved: E17 "places" gadget doesn't show files when clicked

I have installed E17 on one PC and it works fine. I've set this one up as a dual boot and immediately noticed that activating "places" for a drive doesn't result in opening a file window.

Any one else seen this? Is there a reason for this?

welcome to the e17 Club ;)

Try:

Synaptic/install PCmanfm or Nautilus [as you wish]/right mouse click on the Places "hdd" icon/Configuration/make sure that under "Custom file manager" pcmanfm is ticked:
