klaptop / ktemperature replacements in kde4

Hi,
I used to use klaptop and ktemperature system tray apps in kde3.
I could not find an equivalent in kde4.
Can someone point me to the right app for this?

I would like to change the performance profile from system tray and be able to see the temperature in systray.

Forgive my ignorance of KDE 3...what is ktemperature used for? Was that a KDE app that managed your cpu scaling and reported temperatures? If it was, I just use cpu-freq. After installing it I just use a terminal window and as super user type "cpufreq-set --governor ondemand", which scales all the way down unless demand for CPU is higher and then it scales as necessary. Along with the proprietary driver my machine stays more than 20C cooler.

If that's another app not related to this response, please disregard.

Right click on your panel and select "add widgets".  Look for Bubblemon.  It should provide all the monitoring capability you're looking for and then some.  I'm not sure yet if it does any CPU scaling or speedstep management, but you should at least be able to see what's going on.

I use ktemperature that shows the cpu temperature in the system tray.
Klaptop also has an icon indicating battery/charging etc. in systray by right clicking on the icon we can change the power profile.

I am using bubblemon but I have to hover on it to show the temperature not the exact same as ktemperature.
Probably, I have to wait for more apps/widgets in KDE 4.

I also could not find an app similar to ksysguard. I know pressing ctrl+esc shows the processes but I cannot create my own graph and customization like ksysguard.

Where are you looking for ksysguard? Open KRunner by pressing Alt+F2 then type ksysguard into the box. That's probably the fastest way to find it.
Your scripts for ksysguard go here if you want to add customizations:
/usr/share/apps/ksysguard/scripts/

Also Gkrellm is in the repos and can monitor temps of everything if configured to do so. It doesn't match KDE4's Desktop Widgets but it works and has plenty of themes to choose from.

Unlock widgets. Search for battery icon. Place the battery icon gadget on the panel or system tray [as you wish]. Click on the battery icon and change the performance. For settings, go to systemsettings.
Temperature:
Unlock gadgets and place temp gadget on the panel. If you want the cpu scaling freq. display, unlock gadgets/install "CpuFreqDisplay" and put it on the panel:

I was looking for ksysguard in kmenu. I found ksysguard through commandline and added it to kmenu.
I am wondering why it was not part of kmenu under monitoring.

I added more graphs to ksysguard and can monitor a lot in one place

Yup, when I first installed KDE4 I had no problem finding ksysguard in KMenu. But then I read your thread and I got a headache trying to find it there. I seem to remember it always being a pain to find in KDE3 too! That's why I suggested looking for it a different way.
Anyway, glad you found it. I personally couldn't live without it. It is one the first things I add to my panel on a fresh install.
