Low Volume on Thinkpad R61, how to boost?
« on: July 04, 2010, 11:21:46 AM »
Hi guys,

Since i switched from 2008 (i think) to the latest PCLOS my volume is way too low. In the old version i could boost the volume up to the point it would distort, using the PCM slider i think. Now with everything maxed the volume is still way too low in Amarok, Youtube or whatever else. I searched the forum and tried the suggestions given to people with similar problems. Didn't work. Isn't there any way, program or tweak to just boost the general gain? Any suggestions are most welcome! Cheers!

Have you tried the KMix icon (looks like a loudspeaker) in right hand side of the bottom panel ?

Left click to move the volume up/down and to change the channels separately.

I'm guessing your using KDE 2010 ?
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

Yes I have tried KMIX but it doesn't seem to have as many channels/effect as it used to do in the older PCLOS version... I am indeed using KDE 2010.

right-click in KMix, and configure your channels.....
=> for me, there are a lot of channels to chose from... (you maybe have to try many of them before finding the right one  :P )
