Dropbox tricks

Since Dropbox is now installed by default, here are some tips on how useful it can be...

Should have said:  The site is Mac centric, but the ideas (and some of the commands) are usable with modifications..

Hi Chief,
I am on KDE4 & don't see it. Are you using another DE? Maybe it isn't default on all DE.

At any rate I'll check out it's features. tx

my favourite is keeping my .opera and .mozilla folders inside my dropbox and then symbolically linking them to the home folder -

the result is real time browser backup

It should be there if you have any of the 2010 KDE releases (maybe any  other DEs, too).

It is not active until  you run it the first time and sign up for an account.  Look in the "Internet" sub-menu.

But, in any event, it's in the repos...

Wouldn't the Xmarks add-on do the same thing?

Xmarks only does bookmarks and passwords.   Synching the profile gets extensions and add-ons, as well...

exactly - plus if you already use dropbox then you dont have to install additional software (xmarks)
