Help Tether BlackBerry Curve 8330 Bell Mobility CDMA
« on: July 01, 2010, 11:29:07 PM »
Hi all,

I have Barry-ppp installed on my system, Zen Mini 2010

Looking for some help setting up my phone with Bell Mobility CDMA network to use my phone as a modem. Works fine in windows... but I prefer my linux

Can anyone help tether BlackBerry Curve 8330 to Bell Mobility CDMA in Canada.

Read a few different write ups... mostly Greek to me. They referenced American service providers etc. I have contacted my service provider tech support and they say it will work with Linux but they can't assist me... they don't support its use on Linux because the BlackBerry desktop manager runs on windows...

Any help would be appreciated because I cannot get high-speed to my house and tethering my phone is the next best thing.

thanks,

Hi all,

was able to tether my phone via Barry4all

Big thank you too Thibaut Colar at berry4all.com

Had to do some serious thinking on why I could not get it to function, as I believed I followed the requirements... I'm using ZenMinin 2010...

Got it to work by installing wxPythonGTK-2.8.10.1-2pclos2010.i586.rpm

Crappy thing was I had to do a restart in order for everything to function, not sure why on that.... thank god I'm the curious type and didn't give up just kept trying different approaches.

Anyway berry4all works awesome for tethering my Black Berry.

I use the gui and select bellmobility and do a scan... then hit connect, that's all there is to it.

So there seems to be very little difference between berry4all and BB connection software in windows.
