(Solved) PCLinux stuck on bootup
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:14:47 PM »
In order to troubleshoot a Windows computer i needed to reinstall 3 OS (XP, 7 and Linux) on my other drive. Everything is working for Windows, for PCLinux i created the partitions (/, swap and home) from Paragon Partition Manager in Windows so they were ready, installed PCLinux, installation without no problem but when booting to Linux it stays on the blue screen with the bull going nowhere. I left it on that screen for awhile but it doesn't boot to Linux at all. No problem to report booting to Windows so it mus be something that i did.....but what  :D

when the bull appears, press "esc" ( escape -  left top ) button .
You get a black screen with info .
There you can see where it is stuck

I have a similar problem that has occurred since the last round of updates. My system will boot but it takes a long time to do so. It seems to be stuck while searching for ata2 devices. It say's the device is slow to respond and to please be patient. It also states that the device is "drdy" i assume this means dirty but I am not sure. It only took about 40 seconds to boot to the desktop before this occurred now it takes about 3 mins. This happens no matter which kernel I use. The systems runs normally once booted. I can live with the slow boot but if there is any fix I would appreciate it. Maybe the solution offered for the op will help me.

I tried the "esc" but got no information, in fact it wasn't doing anything. I simply reinstalled PCLinux but i redid the partition just to make sure that they were what they are suppose to be. It's working now so time for me to say thank you again :)
