I have an old (P3 500Portege) with trident, and it didn't support it out of the box.  I'm a newibe, so not sure if it could have been made to work or not.  Hope this helps.

hello and welcome to the forum

trident video card at what memory size?  if is higher than 1 mb maybe will work but honestly a trident video card this days is worse than a intel integrated video card and that is low, really low!

time top change video card

Im surprised the R500 Portege runs PCLOS at all. However as to the other gentlemen with the trident, if you have an AGP slot in your computer then it's probably better to upgrade to a cheap AGP videocard. The bonus is that you'll have compositing support.
