Watching iso files with MythTV suddenly fails
« on: June 29, 2010, 03:12:50 AM »
Has anyone else experienced this?

With MythTV (and assumingly other programs as well) it has been possible to watch a ripped DVD iso file directly - but the last couple of weeks nothing happens.

The error is about the drive not being seen as a DVD - and I noticed something 'funny':

If there is a DVD (here KillBill) in the drive, and I select to watch an iso-rip, the DVD is played instead of the iso-rip (the iso is previously recorded television programs with the kitchen chef Heston) - so it appear that some program in the chain fails to redirect the request to the iso file and use the dvd.

I can see that dvdnav and libcss is in play - but not sure exactly what program does what and where to report the issue (clearly a program bug somewhere),

Any ideas?

thanks,
MBantz

I don't use Myth but I did a few tests here to see what behaved properly and what not ......

Dragon Player ...  played audio but not video

Kmplayer .........  played selection screen but could not make a selection .....
it eventually auto played the first selection with the audio slowed

SMPlayer ........    did not play the selection page, just went directly to the first section after launch.
Played correctly. No option to play other separate titles in the ISO.

VLC ...............   played the ISO correctly allowing selection as expected

Kaffeine .........   played the ISO correctly allowing selection as expected

Xine ..............    did not recognise the ISO format

Looks to me that everything based on Mplayer is having trouble here, while Kaffeine plays the ISO I tried I cannot find anywhere within it to configure Kaffeine ....  very strange .......  and VLC plays the ISO without trouble too.

regards.
