If you are talking about the panel icons, then this will restore them.

You can also create a new user and then you will have the original icons back.

Hi ponchuk - what data are you actually referring to?

In Dolphin, click the Up Arrow in the toolbar until you can do it no more, than select the folder named home, you should then see the "named" home folders for the users you have created.

Select the one you want.

Again in Dolphin have you got "Show Hidden Files" enabled?  (Whilst in Dolphin you can press Alt+. <thats a DOT> to toggle hide/unhide files)  This should then show you all the folders and files in that particular home

And stop monkeying around  ;D  ;D

If you give the new user permission to access the files of the original user - then YES

how do u do that??. sounds like the way to go thanks. also if you allow access to all users, if you delete one of the users, do you lose all the data.

This is the way I did it a couple of weeks ago, when I screwed my desktop.

Click on PCC (circle with wrench & screwdriver) enter your Root password - then click on system - then click on Manage users on system -
then click on the tab Groups - then click on the user and then click Edit - click on group users - then click on the box next to the user that you want to add and click OK .

Example :  click on user 1 and add user 2
Then click on user 2 and add user 1

What you really should be doing is learning how to control your desktop. Instead of trying to "restore" it, lets recreate it.

First off, are you using KDE4?
