[SOLVED] Program screen size
« on: June 25, 2010, 10:46:20 AM »
Hello,

This KDE version is excellent looking but sometimes I run into a screen, usually
a configuration screen for some program or window, and the screen doesn't fit
on the netbook screen.  This makes it hard or impossible to try to input and
click OK or Apply or Cancel or whatever.  There are no bars to move the input
screen down there.  K3b is one example.

Is there a style selection or something I can use to get these screens to fit or
have scroll bars on them ?

Thanks,

Patrick

Which version are you running? 2010.1?

Are you using Compiz?

Have you got your graphics card set to the correct resolution? What size screen does your netbook have?

Also which model netbook do you have in case someone on the forum uses one........
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.4; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.4.38bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

Yes, there is in..
Configure Your Desktop -> Look & Feel -> Desktop -> Workspace
Then choose..
Form factor: Netbook (from the drop down list)
Then click 'Apply'.
This should take care of your KDE apps but there are some non-KDE apps that still won't conform to this.
Hope that helps.

I am using 2010.1, don't think I'm using Compiz, 9 inch screen size but 1024 X 600
resolution is usually very good.  It's an EEEPC 900 mhz, 16 GB SSD.  Plus I have a
few 16 GB flash drives for extra storage.

I think I tried that once but I'll try it again.  It changed the menus around and I didn't
pursue it then.  I'll go into it further this evening hopefully and see everything it does.

Thanks,

A workaround for out-of-screen dialogue options is to simply hold alt and drag the window so that the bottom part is visible.
