(fixed) WiFi Link 5100 wireless slow to initialise
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:50:37 PM »
My acer aspire has an Intel WiFi Link 5100 wireless. Works great, but recently it is very slow to initialise.
I am running KDE4 2010.1 fully updated, kernel 2.6.33.5-pclos1.bfs. The wireless module is ‎iwlagn.
Prior to an update a couple weeks ago, the wireless amber light would light up during the desktop loading & by the time the desktop was loaded wireless was fully engaged.
Now, when the desktop is loaded, the wireless light is out for a full minute, the network indicator in the panel displays 'connecting" & finally after a minute of so, wireless is up & going as usual.
Sorry for the petty complaint, but if there were a simple solution to revert to the past behavior logon life would be happier.
Thanks for any thoughts.
John

Note: Well, after the kde 4.4.5 update, wireless reverted to normal. PClos fixes itself!  ;D
