Problems on 5738g
« on: June 24, 2010, 03:41:44 AM »
Hi!

After installing PCLOS, I found out, that there are some problems on my Acer Aspire 5738g

1. Bluetooth button is always on on start of system (and it's on until I don't turn it off)
2. Mic doesn't work in Skype

Is there any way to fix this?

One question... when you power on your computer (after powered off with bluetooth turned off), is bluetooth directly turned on??? (before the Grub-screen, where you select which OS has to boot up);
=> configure it in the BIOS (use last state / turn it off on boot / ...)

or is it off until you see appear Dobie the bull??? (and then suddenly your bluetooth gets on)

This happens in every Linux distro in Windows there wasn't any of those problems. However this bug is not so annoying as much as mic which doesn't work :S

Mic ::: = internal mic in your laptop???

Open KMix, configure the channels, and add every channel possible.... normally there are more possibilities to record sound on a laptop (internal, line in, mic in, ...)
Play with that settings (which one first - input sources / .....)
If you want to do that completely safely, try to make a new user-account, and do it there (maybe testing by trying to record sound in audacity)

(I've done the same this morning with my Medion-notebook (but in my own account), and now I can record sound in audacity with my internal micro (although the sound quality isn't good there, but that can be my fault)....)

The Linux version of Skype really sucks. It works with some hardware but gives problems with other hardware is my experience. The mic not working is quit common with Intel stuff and often the webcam picture in Skype is upside down with a certain webcam. We are a thousands of miles behind the Windows world here (and probably Mac's world also). Hope Skype wakes up soon on this.

Like rubentje1991 said, your as good as only chance is in Kmix.

Guys I have the same issue with the same laptop. Been trying many things but cannot get the internal microphone working and would need help with that.

Waiting for Your questions.

1) Mic does not work in any app
2) I was playing with kmix / alsamixer and when I press f5 to list all device and I am uping the volume I get this annoying feedback sound. I thought that was it - when I tap on the microphone I can hear myself in the speakers but no matter which mic I choose - no input on the apps (audacity, arecord, skype).

Something is not entirely right I think...

Regards.

Andrzej

Capture slider(s) to up ?
In Skype: Options (Ctrl+o) > Sound Devices > Microphone > So Many Options........
Swith off: Allow Skype to automatically adjust my mixer levels.
