<SOLVED> Slow changes in images on screen
« on: June 22, 2010, 01:26:31 PM »
Not sure where to post this....

Running Dell GX280 with PCLOS 2009.2 fully updated and doing well.
No problems in root -- just one of three users.

When moving from a browser "view" to another application, without closing, the picture slowly ends and new picture slowly appears. I do not know how to correct this. [i.e. when moving from one desktop to another, the picture is slow to change.]

Sometimes I can see the desktop, faintly underneath the browser window.

This problem just started this week.

I have fully updated 2009.2 KDE and has been running well for months.
The problem does NOT happen in root. Just in ONE of the users.
Thought it might be with compiz, which I do not understand.
I tried "Activate KDE transparency" and all locks up.
Sometimes I can see desktop images through my browser page.

ALL HAPPENS IN ONLY ONE USER...

Thank you... newlife

Looks like somethings messed up in the particular users account - could you setup a new account for them and then copy the data/settings they need from the "old" account to the new one?

Compiz has a hotkey combo to slow down animations (very drastically). Chances are that you've accidentally pressed this hotkey combo and now all the animations are very slow.

To see what the hotkey combo is, run 'ccsm' (compiz settings), click on the 'general' icon, and go to keybindings. If this key combo is set, then try pressing it and see if that fixes the problem. If the 'slow anims' keybind is not set, then set a keybinding for it, log out and log back in, then try it out and see if that fixes the problem.

Although I still don't know what caused my problem, I fixed it by creating another user, and copying needed data files from troubled user account to the new user.  Thank you everyone for your help.
