Hi,

I am in a wonder as Neal is happy to be able to display the home user icons for directories into the Desktop, whereas I am not. This is not much of a problem, just a matter of taste isn't it ?

Well why do I talk about Lxde ? Because I am doing the Openbox fr version now, and I build the Openbox version starting from the Openbox version, and I test the Lxde new versions too.

But now it happens this:
Working on pclinuxos-openbox:
* I remaster, create md5sum file, test in Virtualbox, burn to CD, test in real machine, and install;
* I restart the installed version, the guest account is deleted at first boot, and I create the new user;
* I get to the GDM login, login as user, the desktop starts and there : BING !!!

==>> a window appears, and asks me if I want the directories to be move to "****". Well this is the Addlocale program that generates this effect, usually. It asks to change some of the "Movies", "Pictures" and so on to the same in your language.

But there, it does it from "/home/user to /home/user/.../..." I don't remember all details just now, I'll do a screenshot in Virtualbox next.

I also have a piece of log in the home user .xsessions_errors file.

Well, if I say "yes", it therefore creates all the directories INTO the Desktop : visible - and I DO NOT want them there... :/

If I say "no", it doesn't create them anywhere at all. As I tried to remove them from /etc/skel, they don't exist anymore ; I want them visible only when clicking on "My Documents" directory icon, which is the only one directory icon I want on the desktop.

==>> I say "no" and no directory is there at all, EXCEPT the "tmp" directory : I DO NOT want it there either.

I tried different things to fix it - EVEN UNINSTALL Addlocale before remastering!! - but didn't find one that works. Do someone know how I could fix that ?

Thanks.

Melodie,
I am happy for those who prefer desktop icons. Personally, I don't use them.

Well I just think that launchers + directories is just too much. But how to revert that ?

Well, it looks like "something" creates automatically some directories: tmp is recreated automatically, and for the /home/user /home/user/{Music|Movies|Templates|...} also, with "something" that might have been left behind by Addlocale : but what ? I did a "updatedb && locate addlocale" and didn't find anything. I'm most probably in the wrong direction.

Hi,

I found a turn around, by copying back the whole content of /etc/skel to the home of guest : just since, I didn't find out what files changed the way it works. I has done the trick, but I could not get the same effect in the home of root : indeed some of the files there can't be the same !

So I solved, but without knowing really how. :(

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe it may have been caused by the ecore update of a couple weeks ago.
I've started a new build and this has not shown up. :)

ecore belongs to E17, it should not be found in Lxde or in Openbox. ???

I removed all E17 packages I found in Openbox and in the french remasters else than E17.

Very good ! Do you have any mean to launch a diff in between the home user directories of the 2 versions ? (If you can have them on the same hard drive and mount one on the other, for example).

Lxmusic and xmms will be removed, if ecore is removed. I'd rather keep lxmusic. But I can look at a substitute, I suppose.

I am looking into the issue, Melodie. If I find out anything, you know I won't keep quiet about it. ;D

Try remove it and reinstall Lxmusic after, same for xmms. Sometimes that work.

I don't mind... did you notice some big depends for the actual pcmanfm version ? gnome-icon-theme (about 27MB) and 2 python-* packages : python-Trash and another I don't remember the name ?
