Can't remount pcmcia-drive
« on: June 17, 2010, 04:52:46 AM »
I've just been affected by what seems to be a problem with gnome-2010 on my Thinkpad-T42. I have a pc-card hard-drive (toshiba hd530) which is mounted correctly when I insert the pc-card. When I unmount the drive, however (using nautilus -> right-mouse -> unmount) and then physically remove the pc-card, I cannot remount the hdd by simply re-inserting the pc-card. I have to reboot to achieve this. Also, having gone through the above procedure (insert pc-card -> unmount hdd -> remove pc-card) the os hangs at the end of the shut-down process and I have to manually switch the machine off  ??? . Shut-down works correctly if I don't use the pc-card.
It's no great sweat, because (apart from having to reboot) I know how to get around the problem  ;) . I also realise that pcmcia is being phased out (at least hardware-wise), so perhaps support is, too; however, I still find it very useful and wouldn't mind fixing this blip. Has anyone else had a similar experience and managed to solve the problem? Thanks.
